iPad Accessories – The Main Types

Along with the release of the iPad came numerous iPad accessories. These accessories range from a keyboard dock all the way down to various cables. The main, larger accessories will be discussed in this article, most cables will not be included in the review.

One of the most talked about accessories for the iPad is the iPad keyboard dock. The keyboard dock is a keyboard and dock all in one. The dock includes connectors in the rear for connecting to an electrical outlet, syncing to a computer and an audio line to connect external speakers. In addition to these dock features, the keyboard is full size and includes Apple’s usual function key shortcuts to activate features on the iPad similar to the way it functions with a Mac. Apple also offers the dock and the keyboard separate as well. The dock by itself can be used for charging, holding the iPad upright, and using additional connectors in the rear of the dock. The separate keyboard is nice since it is bluetooth and can be used up to 30 feet away from the iPad.

Another popular iPad accessory is the iPad case. This case has a lot of nice features including reinforced panels for additional support that allows the iPad to stand up or can be put at an angle for easy typing and viewing of video. The interior of the case is microfiber that provides a soft surface for the iPad.

Another great iPad accessory is the camera connector kit. This kit comes with two connectors, the first allows you to connect a digital camera via USB cable to the iPad and the other connector allows you to put your SD card directly into the connector to download photos on the iPad. Both are very easy to use and small enough to carry with you when traveling.

There are a couple cables worthy of mentioning for the iPad. One is the 10W USB power adapter and the other is the iPad dock to VGA connector. The 10W USB power adapter does come with the iPad when purchased new, however it can be purchased separate as well. This cable simply provides an easy way to charge your iPad by plugging it into an electrical outlet. The VGA connector on the other hand is great for connecting the iPad to a larger viewing screen such as a television, projector or monitor. This is a nice feature for watching video and viewing photos. As you can see there are a variety of iPad Accessories to choose from. Regardless of the reason for using the iPad, these accessories will provide additional features such as viewing video on your TV or syncing photos from your digital camera with the iPad. These accessories give the iPad the additional functionality and flexibility for almost any use.

There are several protective accessories available for the iPad. After spending between $499 and $829 on your new Apple iPad, you definitely want to keep it out of harm’s way. Even before the iPad’s release, several companies have already designed covers, cases, and sleeves for the new device.

The iPad case from Apple is naturally the first product that comes to mind when mentioning covers or sleeves. The iPad case wraps nicely around the iPad’s back and sides. The front cover of the iPad case can be used to cover the screen or hold the device in several positions, just like a stand.

The popular computer company Belkin has designed three different iPad sleeves called the Grip, The Max, and the Vue. The Vue and Max are made of neoprene, while the Grip is made of a neoprene and silicone combination.

Each of the Belkin iPad sleeves is similar in design, but still has subtle differences that offers choices. For example, the unique feature of the Grip Sleeve is a textured surface that offers a steady grip on the iPad. The Max Sleeve and the Vue both have pockets to carry any small iPad and other accessories. The Vue Sleeve also distinguishes itself by having transparent pockets and embossed colors for a more stylish appearance.

The Max and the Vue both have quilted linings that offer enough protection for the iPad. Every Belkin iPad sleeve also has an enhanced panel that offers extra protection for the iPad’s delicate 9.7 inch LED multi touch screen. All three Belkin iPad sleeves are priced at $39.99.

Griffin Technology offers several protective accessories for the iPad including the Elan and the Jumper. The Elan has a synthetic outer covering, and the Jumper Sleeve is made of neoprene. Both of these sleeves offer great protection to keep the iPad free of scratches, dust and other external damage. The Griffin sleeves include tabs to tightly secure the iPad inside. The prices for these iPad sleeves have not been released ahead of time.

Another great series of iPad sleeves is from Booq. The BOA Skin iPad sleeves are made from neoprene and offer plenty of protection with an extra hard base. The Booq BOA Skin for the iPad are available in multiple colors and sell for $29.95. For $24.95, the Booq Taipan Sneak sleeve is slightly different, as it has a zipper and a thinner Neoprene skin.
